Engage is a website and group of people who challenge left and liberal antisemitism in the labour movement, in universities and in public life. Left wing antisemitism usually manifests itself mainly as anti-Zionism.

Engage started in 2005 in response to the AUT boycott of Israeli universities. It was a gathering of left leaning academics who decided to fight the boycott that was damaging their union and moving the left from legitimate criticism of Israeli policy into antisemitism. The boycott was called off after members of engage gathered the required signatories for an emergency meeting of their union and the meeting repealed the boycott decision.

Today engage continues to challenge antisemitism on the left and runs both a website and an academic journal devoted to the topic. The new engage site is easy to use, crystal clear on its focus and a perfect follow up to important work engage was doing during the AUT boycott.

We wish engage every success with their endeavours and recommends them those on the left who are concerned about the treatment of both Jews and Israel, as well as to those wishing a deeper understanding of the challenge facing the left as it comes to terms to discrimination that many would rather ignore.
